    Getting to an Event

No competition licence yet, and an event coming up. Email John Raymond at john@grid.life. A provisional, or rookie, licence covers anyone new to the series or with fewer than four GridLife events, and these have been issued inside a day.

Which licences are accepted. NASA, SCCA, GridLife, and IMSA licences are taken directly.

Holding something else. Do not assume you are out. At a CASC-OR event, email raceregistrar@casc.on.ca and ask for approval for that specific race; this is a routine request. Elsewhere, ask the organiser before you enter, and for a GridLife round start with John Raymond at the address above.

You do not have to buy a GridLife membership to enter a single event, and there is a reduced-fee one-day licence.

Crew passes are bought separately on TorkHub, currently $50 for the weekend. They are not bundled into your entry.

Thursday test day is not on the main entry page. Log into TIXR, open the GridLife driver ticket page, and look under Extras & Add-ons.

Live timing and results are on MYLAPS Speedhive; use the app for live timing during the session. GridLife also publishes a results document as a Google Sheet, and the YouTube livestream can be rewound.

If your transponder is not showing up, check its mounting height before you assume the unit is dead.

GridLife tech is annual, not per event. If your car passed tech at an earlier round in the same season, you do not need to pass it again.

That changes what missing the tech window costs you. A car that already passed this season, and that broke down on the way or arrived after tech closed, still only needs driver registration on arrival. A car that has not passed tech this season does need to, so call ahead if you are going to be late. Either way, check with the organiser rather than assuming your weekend is over.

Watkins Glen. Large rigs and haulers struggle with the steep climb out of the town up to the track. Owners running big rigs use an alternate approach that avoids the climb, on newer and smoother road, arriving with the track on the right. Ask in the owners’ forum or your dealer for the current routing before you tow in; we would rather point you at someone who drove it last season than print a road number that changes.

See Transporting Your Rush SR for loading, and Technical Regulations for what the car itself has to meet.
