    Setup on Delivery

The car arrives on a conservative factory setup. That setup exists to get the car to you intact, not to make it quick, and it is not what you want to drive.

Have the car re-aligned and set up before you run it in anger. This is normally done at the dealer, and it is worth doing as one job rather than discovering it a corner at a time on your first day out.

Alignment and ride height. The delivered numbers are a transport baseline. See Alignment and Ride Height for the procedure and the Factory Setup Guide for the printable baseline to work from.

Mirrors. Set for you, in your seat, in your helmet. A mirror set for whoever last moved the car is worth nothing. See Mirrors.

Head restraints. These are a safety device with a correct position, not a comfort adjustment, and getting them wrong in either direction has consequences. See Head Restraints for the standard.

Seat and pedal box come first, since everything else is set relative to where you sit. Those have their own pages in this section.

Alignment, seat, pedals, mirrors, and restraints are all measured from the driver. Set them once, properly, with the car on level ground and someone who has done it before, and you get a car that behaves the same every weekend and a baseline worth comparing changes against.

Skip it and your first setup change is being made against an unknown starting point.
